Facebook Events are unarguably one of the best features Facebook has rolled out in recent years. With the platform’s massive user base of over 2.7 billion monthly active users, it keeps rolling out great features, apps, and tools for both individuals and companies.

This Facebook feature is very powerful as online promotion for digital and physical or local events is becoming popular within recent years.

Noticed that?

We’ve seen several event companies and planners host and promote great events to 1000s of people using this very Facebook feature.

Unlike years back, when we had to collect dozens of postcards and event invitations on real paper, it has become way easier to promote your events.

Facebook events have also evolved and are frequently updated to allow individuals and companies to host memorable events. With great visuals (image or video content), you can create Private or Public events and promote it to your Facebook friends or any Facebook user (if it’s a public event).

Over the years, we’ve run and promoted events on Facebook that have done 1000s of attendees in total. It’s a great tool to promote your events without having to print actual cards, write letters, or print invitation cards.

With this feature, you can easily create a Private event and invite your friends.

Sounds great, right?

Cool!

But guess what makes an amazing Facebook event crush it?

It’s merely creating engaging visuals that connect and grab people’s attention.

We’ve seen great physical events that didn’t do as projected due to poor visuals on the platform. I always take a good glance at the Facebook Event Photo or profile video for any event before I decide to attend.

It’s the case for most people on Facebook.

You can use your Event Photo to grasp people’s minds on Facebook. So in this guide, we’ll be going through some of the best practices for your Facebook Event Photo Size, and then we’ll touch a little on some best promotional practices to ensure you run a successful Facebook Event even as we approach 2021.

So How do Facebook Events work?

Well, Facebook events let you manage, run, and organize both in the real world or digital (Zoom, Facebook Live, YouTube Live, etc.) with Facebook users.

So if you have people that will most likely be interested in attending your event on Facebook, you can leverage this feature to promote it to users on Facebook.

They are also a great way to promote your events by getting users to engage and get people talking about the event.

It is a calendar-based feature that lets users register and be notified about any event they wish to attend.

Get the idea?

Now, what is the recommended Facebook Event Photo Size?

The best Facebook Event Photo Size for 2021 is 1920 x 1005 pixels and should fit well on all screen sizes.

Previously, the dimensions were 1920 x 1080 with an aspect ratio of 16:9, but this has since changed after the new Facebook layout.

Now that you know the ideal Facebook Event Photo size, it’s time to get to work and design a masterpiece using Pixelied in minutes.

Not sure what Pixelied does?

Well, Pixelied is a platform that provides a powerful design solution for individuals, startups, and businesses just like yours.

How to Create a Facebook Event Photo Within Minutes?

For this guide, we’ll be using Pixelied.

Talking about Pixelied, it’s the tool I recommend that you use in designing not just Facebook Event Photos but all your social media, blog, and content images. It’s a social media design tool that allows you to create stunning visuals for your brand or business.

Here are some of the reasons that I love and use Pixelied:

  • Ready-Made Templates (for almost all business needs): this is possibly the best reason I love Pixelied. You can easily pick from the catalog of templates for your business needs.
  • Advanced Editor: This tool has one of the best yet easy-to-use editing dashboards. I mean, you could get premium icons, access to Google’s 900+ fonts, multiple photo effects, background remover, and a lot more!
  • Millions of Stock Images: Finally, it’s equipped with millions of royalty-free stock images that you can easily access and insert into your designs.

Now that we’ve highlighted the top reasons why I love the design tool, let’s get an account for you. It’s free and, trust me, takes only a few minutes to set up. It’s as easy as setting up a Facebook account 🙂

Step 1: Open Pixelied’s Editor (It’s Free)

To get started, simply go to our free Facebook cover editor.

All the customizable Facebook event cover templates are already set to recommended dimensions (1920 x 1080) by default.

The editor is one of the simplest dashboards for design tools out there, with a seamless platform that lets businesses and individuals design awesome graphics in minutes.

Step #2: Select a Facebook Event Cover Template

The next thing you want to do after landing on the editor is to scroll through and select the Facebook Event Cover Template, which you’ll use.

Like I mentioned earlier, one of the primary reasons why I love Pixelied is because I can get to select from the library of dozens of different templates for different platforms you might be using.

And for this walkthrough, we’ll be picking the Facebook Event Cover Template, but you can also gain access to a wide variety of other templates such as for Facebook group cover designs.

So go through and select any template you like in the left sidebar of the editor.

Step #3: Customize the Template to Your Liking

Your Facebook Events can be so successful if you have a great image to promote it. And with the tools we have presently, we have all we need to quickly capture users’ attention.

Pixelied’s interface allows its users to customize each design to their taste.

This is another reason why we included 1000s of templates, so you should have the maximum freedom to express yourself or your brand on an image that promotes your upcoming event.

[Don’t worry, I’ll talk more on this later in this article]

So how do you customize your Facebook Event Photo Using Pixelied?

It’s simple!

All you need to do is select a template (as you’ve done already in the previous step), and then use Pixelied’s friendly editor to edit your template’s looks, color, texts, fonts, image, or background.

Step #4: Download Your Design

The final and easiest step is to download your finalized design with the precise Facebook event photo size. And in Pixelied, you can do that with just a click or two.

Be sure to name (or rename) your file before downloading it. This will help with your photo title tags, which are great for SEO and social signals on your websites or social pages.

When you click the download button, you’ll be given the options to select what file type you’d want to download your cover photo as (we recommend PNG for highest quality) and resolution.

Click save after selecting your preferred file type, and it should be saved to your download folder (or any location you chose).

How to Upload Your Facebook Event Photo?

If you have a great strategy and a captivating cover photo for your amazing event that’s coming forth, the next step is to upload it on Facebook so users (or your friends) can see it. But to do that, you must already have an Event set up.

So how do you create a Facebook Event?

In 5 steps, here’s how to create a Facebook Event:

Step 1: Log into your Facebook account, and from your Feed, click on Events in the left menu.

Step 2: Click on the “Create New Event” button.

Step 3: Next, select online events if your event is hosted online or in-person events if your event is physical.

Step 4: You’ll be asked to fill in the event name, location, date, time, and description on the next page.

Step 5: After filling in your event details, click on the “Privacy” drop-down to select if your event is Private or Public. For Private events, this will only show to Facebook users you invite.

The Public option allows any Facebook user to join the event while the “Friends” option only reveals the events to all your Facebook friends. The “Group” option allows you to invite users to a Facebook group that you’re in.

Step 6: Please note that only Facebook Pages and not personal Facebook profiles can create recurring events. So if you want to be able to create recurring events, you’ll need a Facebook Page. It’s easy to set up and comes with many other benefits and features at your disposal.

Best Practices to Create a Stunning Facebook Event Cover

Now you know the best photo size for your Facebook event photos, and we also showed you how to design great images for your event using Pixelied.

Let’s look at some of the best practices we see most marketers adopt when designing their event cover photo.

1. Use an Eye-Catching Image

I can’t express how much your photo or graphics affects your Facebook event’s performance. I call it the blood of your Facebook Events.

Because it’s most likely the first thing, potential attendees will see when they first come across your Facebook events either on notifications or on their feeds.

Even when you navigate to the “Create an Event” tab, you’ll see some upcoming events mostly around your location or from your Facebook friends. These are mostly displayed using the Facebook event cover photo.

Here’s what I mean:

So having an effective Facebook cover photo is crucial and can boost your event performance dramatically.

2. Add all the Information About Your Event

If there’s one crucial aspect of Facebook events that you need to pay attention to, you can provide all the necessary details about your event.

All important information such as the location of the event, date, time, etc. are crucial and would help users understand what they’re registering for.

Here’s a great example of a cover photo with all the relevant and important details of the event:

3. Use Your Branding Colors

We’re not the best designers in the world, but we do not value branding for every business out there. It sets your business apart, especially from your competition.

As a business, colors play a huge role in your branding; thus, you need to pay more attention to that.

Be clear about what colors your brand should use. And use them consistently on all major platforms that you use.

What’s the goal?

To ensure your potential viewers remember you whenever they see your graphics. That also helps build strong brand credibility online, and users naturally start to trust your brand and do business with you.

4. Clear Use Of Text

Typography plays one of the significant roles in how well your event cover photo performs. I mean, what’s a great and effectively designed photo or graphics without clear and bold texts that users won’t have to stress before reading.

There are dozens of Google Fonts (I recommend this) that look great on images. Luckily, they’re all available in Pixelied.

Sounds great, right?

Now, here’s a full guide on how to select the best fonts for your type of brand.

You can also search Google for guides on selecting the best fonts for your business or company type.

Here’s what I did for my brand:

    1. I got all the details about my brand (my why, purpose, brand style, approach, etc.)
    2. Reached out to a freelancer who’s an expert with fonts for brands.
    3. I paid $20 and got a unique and professional font style for my brand.

Finally, use bright colors. Why?

According to Wikipedia, bright colors naturally capture our brain, and we tend to react to them.

Mistakes to Avoid When Creating a Facebook Event

There are certain things you must avoid to use Facebook effectively. And like I’ve mentioned, your Facebook event could perform exceptionally and could underperform as well.

It depends on the strategies and tactics that you employ. And before this article, I noticed a couple of people on the internet wanted clarity on the most common mistakes to avoid when creating your Facebook event even as we approach 2021.

1. Captivating Headline

99% of events promoters on Facebook skip this out!

Your headlines are critical when creating your Facebook event. If one doesn’t look at your event cover photo, he or she will most likely look at the title or headline.

You need to be able to captivate your reader’s mind even before he scrolls through the description.

Crafting headlines can seem easy but can be tricky. For example, the popular question is, should I write headlines for my customers or search engines?

For every event, take your time to craft out a couple of headlines – think 5-10, if possible.

Next, email your closest friends or relatives asking for their opinion.

Have business partners, employees, staff, etc.?

Reach out to them to pick which they’ll be more likely to click on. We’ve used this strategy countless times, and it’s proven to be super useful.

2. Not Participating in the Event Discussion.

This is a great way to spark engagements and get your upcoming events off the ground. Discussions are crucial, and it also helps boost your attendees as well.

Those who don’t know, users who are attending a specific event, can engage or start-up discussions under the Event Feed.

If the Facebook event is Public, any Facebook user who sees it will see the photos and videos posted on the timeline. But for those Private Facebook Events, only users who are invited can have access.

Try to boost your engagement rates and get people talking about your events. This can also help you rank up in the “Events” section on Facebook, which can lead to 100s or even 1000s of attendees.

3. Not Being Clear

Finally, this is probably one of the most important things for running unique marketing campaigns—not having a clear strategy or half damage to your conversion rates.

Little details matter a lot, and these are things you need to pay close attention to.

Before starting your Facebook event, ask yourself, what’s your why?

How do I plan on keeping each attendee engaging?

What’s my overall strategy?

And most importantly, “what’s in it for them?”.

I mean, whoever is considering attending your event, what should they expect?

You should include all of these in your details, title, and most importantly, your Facebook event photo. This is where you can pass much information by spending less time.

How?

Well, it’s proven that words are processed 60,000 times slower than images. So be sure to design an eye-catching Facebook event cover photo using Pixelied.

Conclusion

Finally, research shows a post on social media with an engaging image is 10 times more likely to attract engagements. This shows how powerful the graphics are.

If that’s not enough, words are processed 60,000 times slower than pictures!

Powerful right?
